Charlotte Licensing Exams Amateur Radio License Test Exam Sessions

MARS encourages applicants to be well prepared for the exam by studying and taking practice exams. There are many resources available both in printed and online form. Although MARS does not endorse any products, the following have been used successfully by several applicants. The ARRL Store (https://home.arrl.org/action/Shop/Store) has several manuals available. There are also several online courses that we have reviewed that applicants have found useful. These are HamStudy (https://hamstudy.org/) and HamRadioPrep (http://hamradioprep.com). Practice exams are available at QRZ.com (under Resources) and at ARRL.org (https://www.arrl.org/exam-practice). Please make certain that you are using resources that reflect the current question pool as some websites and videos are out of date.

All MARS-sponsored Amateur Radio exam sessions are open to all applicants. The exams are held in the Gymnasium building behind St. Giles Evangelical Presbyterian Church at 2027 Emerywood Avenue in Charlotte. All exams start at 9:00AM – Please arrive by 8:45AM.

Pre-registration is required for our exam sessions. You can Pre-register by going to www.hamstudy.org and clicking on the blue box labeled “Find a Session”. To filter, our exams will be “In-Person” using “W4VEC”. The zipcode is 28210 and the exams are listed as Mecklenburg Amateur Radio Society, Charlotte, NC. Scroll down to the date that you plan to take the exam. If the session that you want is not listed, it may be full. Contact the VE Team Manager to be placed on the waiting list in case there are cancellations.
