CARC Charlotte Amateur Radio Club Test Session

Notice: During a government shutdown testing will continue. The Volunteer Examiner Coordinator (VEC) will hold test results until the FCC servers become available. At that time test results will be submitted to the FCC. These are temporary measures only during the time FCC servers are unavailable.

Due to the government shutdown, FRN numbers are not available. When registering, if you are taking the Technician test and are unable to obtain an FRN from the FCC type in ten zeroes "0000000000" in the FRN field and then select "I don't have an FRN". If you already have an FRN you must use it in the registration.

This is an in person computerized test. All testing materials are provided.

Please note that most of this information will be automatically collected if you register using hamstudy.org

Upon registering, we need your name, current address, FRN number, valid email address, and phone number. The FCC also requires us to ask if you are a convicted felon...we don't need any details, just yes or no...a yes answer does NOT automatically disqualify you from obtaining an amateur license.

If you already have a ham license please bring a SIGNED COPY of it. Your name should be exactly as it appears on your current license.

If you have recently passed an exam, and your current license doesn't show this upgrade, or if you passed your Technician test and haven't received your call sign yet, please bring a copy of your CSCE.

Exam fees of $12.00 are to be paid by cash only. We can make change.

Please bring your government issued photo ID to the test session. Typically a driver's license will do. The address on the ID should match the address that is associated with your FRN and that you used when registering for the test.

Free parking is available.

You can use your own calculator provided you can show that the memory is cleared and no formulas are stored on the device. Simple calculators are available to borrow for the test.
