For new License you must have an FRN (FCC Registration Number) before you can register to take an exam. You can get the FRN through the FCC CORES website:

http://apps.fcc.gov/cores/userLogin.do

If you are registering for an upgrade you will already have an FRN and you can enter either you currect active call or the FRN to register.

HCARC exams are primarily given on ExamTools platform. HCARC uses in person paper exams corrected with GradeCam.

The FCC also requires an e-mail address. All communication with the FCC is through e-mail.

The ARRL testing fee is $15.00 payable at your session before you take the exam. If the applicant is under 18 the fee is $5.00 .
